International English MA programme in Semiotics

Dear colleague, We are glad to announce that in the study year 2009/2010 we opened a new international English MA programme in Semiotics. The first application round was very successful; we currently have 16 students from all around the world, e.g. Turkey, Columbia, Mexico, Chile, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, USA, India, and Germany. Students have expressed their positive feelings both regarding the program and Tartu as a study environment. The MA programme offers series of courses that cover the semiotic knowledge in historical, theoretical and applied aspects. The programme includes three main fields of semiotics - cultural, social and biological semiotics, providing also an insight into the methodology and contemporary applications of semiotic analysis. All courses are taught in English by the internationally known specialists in the field. The programme does not require a previous BA in semiotics; students from different fields of study are welcome to apply.
